success assembly

This week's focus for Year 11: traffic light knowledge audit

This morning's Year 11 success assembly was delivered by Mr Roberts on the use of traffic lights to help audit knowledge, recognise strengths and identify areas where progress can be made.

And for the success task, each student has been given a list of objectives for Chemistry that can be applied to other subjects and this was also circulated to parents and carers earlier today.

In the assembly, Mr Roberts discussed how the knowledge audit can be done in a variety of ways. For example, on the top of a booklet or exercise book page, or, alternatively, printing off a copy of the specification from the exam board website and highlighting the objectives in red/amber/green.

For the success task, students are being asked to traffic light five of the topics so that they can recognise where there is the greatest scope to improve; and, crucially, this will highlight areas for discussion with their teachers in the next few weeks.

We hope our students will recognise the immense value of this type of knowledge/understanding review, and they may wish to adopt it in other subject areas too.

With huge thanks to Mr Roberts for this morning's assembly and for the key advisories for our Year 11s as they continue with preparations for their forthcoming GCSEs.
