science club end of term finale

King Kong's Hand!
In a fantastically fun end-of-term workshop for Year 7 Science Club, this week our keen scientists got to experiment with chemical reactions to make their very own King Kong's hand!
They were tasked with observing three different states of matter using and combining everyday, household items: a solid (baking soda) and a liquid (vinegar), which, when combined, produces a gas.
Our scientists then decanted their mixture into a latex glove while recording their observations.
They learnt about what forms of matter, what quantities caused the glove to increase in size, and the challenges in observing a gas.
And lo and behold, an epic end result and some impressive King Kong hands!
Huge thanks as ever to Team Science for another brilliant term of extracurricular Science Club and for creating these fantastic opportunities for hands-on learning. We can't wait to see what the Science Club gets up to in the labs next term - watch this space!
