careers in politics

On Friday it was fantastic to welcome back former student Alex Finney to UGS for an inspirational lunchtime presentation on careers in Politics.

After completing A levels at UGS, Alex took a degree in Politics and Economics, and during his extensive career has been involved in running local and national election campaigns in the UK and abroad, in places such as St Kitts and Central Africa, as well as consultancy work, working in a think tank, and in parliamentary research.

Alex delivered advice to our students on a career in politics, on the range of different pathways into the sector, and on what skills employers are looking for.

Our students were really keen to learn more and asked a multitude of questions, and they all took away invaluable advice on optimising their potential.
