world book day

Book Swap this lunchtime as our programme of events continues!

Happy World Book Day!

We are always excited to celebrate World Book Day at UGS, and this year is no exception. As shared earlier this week, Year 7 have already enjoyed the Golden Ticket Search, and today it was time for BOOK SWAP.

We were delighted with the number of books brought in by our students, and the range is pictured above ready for the swap to start.

It was lovely to see a range of year groups taking part.

And happily walking away with something new to read, as well as having been awarded those all-important house-points for participation!

Book Swap will take place again during break on Monday for those students who were unable to participate today, so we look forward to seeing even more books exchanged next week!

This evening, we look forward to our supercurricular lecture on women in literature; and tomorrow, we will enjoy a special celebratory assembly, and are delighted to be welcoming author Sue Cunningham to school at lunchtime for a very special visit to tell us all about her amazing brand-new book Cloud Nine.

And watch this space for updates about our forthcoming Book Fair where students will get the opportunity to spend their WBD vouchers on site. We can't wait!
