year 12 ucas trip

Year 12 head to Manchester Central for a fantastic UCAS Discovery event!
This afternoon, the Sixth Form Team arranged for the entire Year 12 cohort to attend the UCAS Discovery event at Manchester Central Convention Complex.
The venue played host to a multitude of visiting representatives who were equipped with a wealth of useful information and resources to support our students on their pathways towards applications to university, degree apprenticeships and employment.
These included representatives from a huge number of universities from across the country.
Not to mention employers and businesses who provided specialised zone talks.
There were displays of extensive infographics and direct one-to-one advice and guidance on degree apprenticeships.
As well as information on undergraduate life at university and student housing.
Our students were also able to enjoy specific subject spotlights, where there was the opportunity to talk with academics.
And with current students, and to get a taste of what it's really like to study their chosen subjects.
There was also the chance to take part in the "Big Q&A":
And to hear presentations and advisories on UCAS applications and personal statements, and on maximising options and figuring out the best pathways.
There were also hands-on activities and chill and charge zones.
It was informative, enriching, and fun, and a great inspirational starter for our Year 12 students as they plan their next steps and their university applications, and decide on their choice of course of undergraduate study, apprenticeship or employment.
Last but not least, there were also much-appreciated freebies available to take home, including tote bags, stationery and all-important bucket hats as useful mementos of this great event!
With huge thanks to the Sixth Form team for arranging this wonderful enrichment opportunity for our Year 12 students, and we wish them all the very best of luck as they embark on the next stage of their academic journeys!
