6th form mun conference

So proud of our Sixth Form students!
This weekend, a cohort of delegates from Year 12 and Year 13 participated in the MUN (Model United Nations) conference at Manchester High School for Girls.
Our MUN representatives meet every Wednesday, with the support of Head of Year 12 Mrs Mohammed, who accompanied them on Saturday. They have debated a plethora of subjects, including autonomous weapon systems.
Model United Nations simulations engage hundreds of thousands of students each year, helping them to learn more about the principles of the UN and how it functions, and participating develops and progresses the research and debating skills of all who take part.1
As the SFT are delighted to share on their socials: "We are so proud of our MUN students ... they practised and developed their diplomacy, leadership, public speaking and team-building skills. An inspiring message from Dame Jacinda Arden, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, opened the ceremony, reminding students of the importance of MUN. A huge thank you also to Manchester High School for Girls for hosting a superb conference".
It is only the second time that UGS has been represented at the conference, but we look forward to sharing more news as they are determined to build upon their success in the future!
Really well done all!
