end of term celebration
Festively fantastic fundraising way to end another amazing UGS term!
Our last week of term has been spent in true UGS style, with not only huge helpings of Christmas cheer, but lots of charity, peace and goodwill, including, as already reported, Mission Christmas, the Year 7 Aladdin reward trip, and the Delamere school Christmas party organised by our House team and prefects.
Today was our fund-raising Christmas Jumper and Non-Uniform Day in aid of Christian Aid Nigeria, and some of our Year 7 forms can be seen above and below fully embracing the jumper spirit. Head of Year 7 Miss Devenney Lees dropped in on all the Year 7 classes and crowned 7S the winners of the most Christmas-sy form, with a special shout out to Araiz for really bringing the yuletide vibes!
Our Sixth Formers of course also joined in our special day:
And they enjoyed their own end-of-term Assembly this morning, where Head of Sixth Form Miss Lingwood and Head Mrs Wall paid tribute to all their hard work this term, to all that they have achieved, and to all that they have contributed to our whole school community. And our fantastic Senior Prefect team rounded off the Assembly with a hilarious Grinch-themed Christmas show:
Yesterday, well-being coordinator Dr Zebedee organised a special event for staff in the Reading Room (which boasts a special well-being corner for our students), where there was a lovely opportunity to come together to relax and make bath salts and soporific sprays at the end of an incredibly busy term:
End of Term Assembly
Before leaving this afternoon, we enjoyed a lovely festive assembly complete with fantastic performances from both our Junior and Senior choirs, that was a truly fantastic whole school community way to round off the term.
And during this last week, our final House Assembly of 2024 took place, at which another great term of house achievements and events was celebrated, recognising all that has taken place, and all the house-points that have been awarded, including:
House Halloween Baking competition
House Pumpkin carving competition
Interhouse Chess: Park house currently leading
GCHQ National Language Challenge
Library House Non-Fiction November Reading Challenge and Pitch Your Passion writing competition
TARA/Library House Black History Month writing competition
The House Prefect Candy Cane fundraiser for the Delamere School Christmas Party
Interhouse Sports Day (Park first placed)
Our weekly House achievers
And there were special prizes for the Year group champions (top house-point winners per year group) in each of the 5 houses.
Finally, with much epic drum roll, there was the grand finale announcement of the current reigning champions: PARK!
But … there is everything to play for when we return in 2025 … watch this space for updates!
Wishing all in our wider school community a wonderful festive break, and we look forward to seeing all our students again in the New Year!
