A gloriously festive UGS celebration in words, dance and music

A very special event took place in our Main Hall last night as students, staff, parents and carers joined together to be a part of a wonderful evening that raised our spirits as much as the roof!

In a showcase of a vast array of UGS performing arts talent, there were stellar performances from both our Senior and Junior Choir (pictured below):

From the School Band, and from an array of soloists, such as Will on piano:

In addition to Diego, also on piano; Oscar on electric guitar; Elia on trumpet; haunting vocal solos from Dani, Evangeline and Evelyn; a Christmas ensemble from Shanese, Marianne and Lara; and a charming flute and vocal duet from Aline and Rosie.

Not to mention a vibrant Drama Club poetry rendition of A Visit from St Nicholas, and a Dance Squad performance of Mr Shakin' Stevens's Merry Christmas Everybody (pictured below):

There were poignant readings of `An American Childhood` from Jonah, and from Ife of his self-penned `If Winter Were`; and Mr Roberts and Mrs Wall followed up last year's Four Candles (The Two Ronnies) double act with a reading of Kelly Roper's Milk and Cookies:

And a rousing full ensemble finale of Slade's Merry Christmas Everyone will go into the UGS memory book of legend for Mr Harrison's homage to Noddy Holder's iconic line - you had to be there!

The evening concluded with Mrs Wall's heartfelt tribute of thanks to the students, to the Performing Arts department, and to all the staff who made this memorably superb evening a possibility:

We could not be more proud: we are UGS, and this was our Festival of Christmas 2024!
