reading buddies
Our inspiring literacy scheme relaunches for this academic year!
We are delighted to share news that our Reading Buddies programme has relaunched, and some of the Year 12 and Year 7 students who are participating are pictured above and below this morning, at venues including our LRC and cloister areas.
Staff lead for the programme and Literacy Coordinator Miss Hammond tells us more:
The reading buddies initiative is now in its second year of running. Its aim is to foster community spirit within our school by developing supportive links between our oldest and youngest students.
Once each week, year 7 students read with their buddy during form time. This supports year 7 students in developing their reading and confidence, and gives 6th form buddies the opportunity to develop their own interpersonal skills, as they role model good reading and behaviour to our youngest students.
Really well done all on engaging with another fantastic UGS student literacy, leadership and enrichment opportunity, and we look forward to sharing updates on their progress!
