STARTING THE WEEK WITH A NEW HOUSE FOCUS & READING CHALLENGE

Excited to launch our first House Library reading challenge of the year and our new house-point focus!
As another busy and productive week begins, and in a theme that chimes with the start of a brand new term at UGS, we are excited to launch the first of our House Library Reading Challenges for this year: `New beginnings`.
Pictured above are some of our new Year 7 cohort who were excited at break today to explore the LRC and to take the opportunity to find out more about all our library facilities and initiatives, and to be the first to sign up to the House Reading Challenge.
As part of our ongoing literacy programme and provision, and to foster engagement with our House system, we are delighted to invite our students to take up the challenge to explore and investigate new titles, authors, and genres; and we are proud to showcase a range of some of our brand new books for this year with a special display in the LRC.
Weekly house point focus
Our House leaders are also delighted to launch a new house initiative for this year: a house point focus for students each week, starting today with PRIDE.
One of our core UGS values, students who show pride in their work may be confident to share their ideas with peers and classmates, or may show resilience in their attitude to learning and determination to succeed.
The challenge for our students is to earn house points for demonstrating the above, and to earn a house point for showing pride this week.
We cannot wait to share updates on all that our students achieve both in the house point initiatives and challenges, and on their UGS reading journeys.
Watch this space for updates!
