year 9 religious studies trip

Fantastic and informative visit to Manchester Central Mosque for our Year 9 GCSE students

This week, over the course of 3 days, our Religious Studies department arranged for the entire Year 9 cohort to visit Manchester Central Mosque.

As RS teacher Mr Uthman explains: "At Urmston Grammar, students begin their GCSE Religious Studies journey in year 9. The course comprises the study of Christianity, as well as Islam, belief and practices.

On our visit to Manchester Central Mosque, the students undertook a full guided tour.

This was followed by a very informative talk and Q&A session on the religion of Islam by its 3 Imams.

After enjoying the tour and talk, the students were then treated to a full meal at My Lahore's restaurant:

This is located on Manchester's famous 'curry mile', and was a fantastic way to round off the day's trip.

It has been a fantastic and informative experience for all of our Year 9 students, and one that we look forward to going on again in the next academic year with our current year 8 cohort.

With huge thanks to our hosts at Manchester Central Mosque and My Lahore's, to Mr Uthman for sharing this insight into the experience, and to all the staff who organised and supported this opportunity for our students,
