practical science in action
Hands on scientific learning & exploration for Year 8 this morning!
We're fortunate to host our very own Ecosystems in the pond in our grounds here at UGS, and pictured above and below this morning are our Year 8 scientists, engaged in some very hands on outdoor scientific exploration and investigation, led by Dr Murphy and supported by lead technician Mr Sharp.
The lesson is a component of the Ecosysytems and Interdependence module taught in Year 8 Science, and the exploration of the ecosystems in our pond supports learning objectives in the investigation of habitat, environment, population and food chains.
As you can see, our Year 8 scientists deployed nets to extract samples from the pond for analysis and study, in order to facilitate their investigation, and to fulfil their learning outcomes.
It is fantastic that our scientists are able to make optimal use of our school grounds and facilities to enrich and develop their studies, and a delight to see the students thoroughly enjoying this session of interactive learning.
With huge thanks to Dr Murphy and Mr Sharp!
