Options at 14,16 & 18

Destinations

All students are tracked by the CEIAG Co-ordinator and this information is shared with the Local Authority (Trafford Council).

Post-14 Options

All options can be discussed, however the main options include:

  • GCSEs at Urmston Grammar
  • Options offered by local university technical colleges, studio schools and at local colleges

Post-16 Options

All options can be discussed, however the main options include:

  • A levels at Urmston Grammar
  • A levels and/or Vocational qualifications (e.g. BTECs) at a 6th Form or College
  • Apprenticeships (Intermediate or Advanced level)
  • Employment combined with training (part time accredited study)

Post-18 Options

All options can be discussed, however the main options include:

  • Higher Education courses at University (e.g. Undergraduate degree)
  • Further Education courses at College (e.g. Art Foundation Year)
  • Apprenticeships (Higher level)
  • Degree Apprenticeships
  • School Leaver Programmes
  • Sponsored Degrees
  • Employment
  • Gap Year

Raising Participation Age

All young people in England are required to continue in education or training. Pupils who left Year 11 in summer 2014 or later have to continue until at least their 18th birthday and can choose from:

  • Full time study in a school, college or training provider
  • An apprenticeship, traineeship or supported internship
  • Full time work or volunteering (20 hours or more) combined with part time accredited study
