Celebrating some wicked entries to our House Library writing competition!
We were delighted this morning to celebrate the winners of the Library House Persuasive Writing competition, that is the first stage of our entry to the national Wicked Writers: Be the Change competition, organised by the National Literacy Trust.
KS3 students were tasked with producing a piece of persuasive writing about their vision for change in the local community, and we were truly impressed by the quality of submissions from our Year 7 students, covering a breadth of ideas.
It was difficult to choose the winners, but we can now announce that they are:
Joint first-placed: Ayla 7R and Anita 7T, who wrote superbly on improving local measures for food sustainability, and a vision for change in Sale respectively.
Joint second-placed: Toby 7U and Kara 7S, who wrote about improving measures for environmental bags and plastic reuse, and a vision for improvements to local community provision respectively.
Runners-up: Rosanne 7R and Hasti 7T, who wrote about the need for greater support for immigrants in Manchester, and the need to develop green spaces locally.
Kara, Ayla, Anita, Hasti, Toby and Rosanne are pictured above this morning after proudly receiving their prizes and certificates, and the winning entries will now be submitted to the national competition for a chance of winning a trip to London to see Wicked in the West End and to have the opportunity to be published in a national anthology.
Really well done all and watch this space for updates on the national results!
