This month marks Non-Fiction November, a nationwide initiative to promote and encourage the reading of non-fictional, factual, and reference resources amongst school and wider communities.

To celebrate, and to showcase our range of non-fiction titles both in our Library and on our ebook platform, we have been proud to launch our new Library House Reading Challenge, and the first of our students to visit a dedicated display in the LRC are pictured above at break today.

We have been delighted to significantly expand our range of non-fiction resources in the last year, gaining subject-specialist titles to support wider reading and independent learning in Geography, Science, Maths, History, and Politics to name just some, and in response to student and staff recommendations and requests for Black History Month, International Women's Day, and the launch of our Feminist Society.

We look forward to seeing our students take pride in participating in our Reading Challenge, and exploring the resources available to them.

Creative Writing competition

The special theme for Non-Fiction November 2024 is: Why Don't You? This is designed to encourage students to write persuasive pieces about their favourite hobbies, pastimes, activities, and interests, with the aim of not only developing writing skills, but encouraging peers to try something new. 

To chime with this theme, we have been pleased to launch our very own KS3 house writing competition: Pitch your Passion. Details of how to enter have been circulated to students and posted on Satchel One, and we look forward to receiving lots of entries.
