delighted to welcome primary scientists

Year 5 Abbotsford students develop their studies of anatomy with a day in our labs!

Our Science department were delighted to welcome a cohort of Year 5 students from Abbotsford Primary for some investigative sessions in our laboratories, led and supported by our subject specialist staff.

Throughout this year in school, the students have been studying the heart, its structure and mechanisms.

So it is fantastic that we are able to offer primary students the opportunity to spend time with us, developing their curriculum studies; and today the students were engaged firstly in labelling diagrams of the heart and circulatory system.

Before proceeding to observe a heart dissection, led by Biology teacher Mr Mumford.

They were then tasked with investigating the effects of exercise on their bodies and anatomy.

It was clear to see how engaged our primary guests were, and it was delightful to receive a great deal of positive feedback on how much they enjoyed their time spent learning and enriching their studies with UGS.

With huge thanks to our guests from Abbotsford, and to Mr Mumford and Team Science for facilitating the day's activities.
