delighted to announce our lead prefects for 2024/5

Celebrating the appointment of Haris 12U and Emilia 12G!

Pictured this morning proudly enjoying their moment, and their appointment as our Lead Prefects for the coming year are Year 12 students Haris and Emilia.

We were thrilled last week to share news about our brand new Senior Prefect Team for 2024/5, who, after sharing their manifestos, triumphed in the polls to be awarded their places on the team.

All on the team were invited to apply for the important role of Lead Prefect, and throughout yesterday they underwent interviews with Mrs Wall, Miss Lingwood and Mr Neale, who are delighted today to announce the successful candidates. Really well done!

Haris and Emilia cannot wait to get to work with the team, and to make a start on coordinating and implementing their vision and plans, which have at their core a further development not only of the Sixth Form community and all that it can achieve, but of its contribution to the whole school and the wider community; and an enrichment of engagement between Sixth Form and all year groups, the House system, and staff.

To achieve this vision, some of the initiatives planned by the team include:

A Buddy scheme between KS5 students and younger year groups, and between current KS5 students and the new cohort

Charity and fund-raising events

A development of the integration and participation of Sixth Form students in Interhouse events

Further raising the profile of Sixth Form within the UGS community

And the team are of course committed to upholding our core UGS values of Pride, Participation and Empathy.

We cannot wait to see the great work that promises to take place over the next year, and Haris and Emilia both greatly look forward to speaking at our forthcoming Open Evening on Wednesday 19th June: details of how to book a place at this showcase of our school can be found in the link on our website.

Congratulations to both and to our wonderful new Senior Prefect Team, and watch this space for news on all that they achieve!
