sherlock Holmes day story winners!

Yesterday was Sherlock Holmes Day, and to celebrate it was elementary that we organised a House creative writing competition, challenging our students to be inspired by the legendary sleuth, and to write their own tale of mystery, designed to intrigue the reader.

Our students, as ever, impressed with their enthusiasm to participate in a House challenge, and to put pen to paper, and the standard of the submissions, and breadth and depth of imagination and writing skills demonstrated, made it as difficult to choose the winners as it was for Holmes to crack his cases!

After a tough call, the winners and runners up were decided, and they are pictured above this morning: Alishba 8T, Sophie 7S, Grace 7S, Sankari 7R, Diane 9R, Megan 9S, Mason 7R, Muhammad 7R & Ryaan 8T.

Overall winner Sankari 7R's tale - Echo of a Crime - is a beautifully written literary whodunnit, with an intriguing ending that very much leaves the reader in suspense.

Diane 9R & Megan 9S collaborated on their story - The Necklace - which is a sinister mystery with a creeping sense of foreboding on every page.

Sophie 7R wrote The Diner, a pacy tale of a murder investigation, with a shocking twist.

Mason 7R crafted The Party, a high school tale of sinister mystery and revenge.

The winning stories will be published in the next edition of Perspectives, and we'll keep you in suspense until then!
