our musicians Diego & Garcia showcase their talent

Delighted to share news about a great weekend performance from Diego and Garcia!

We have been proud to follow the progress of UGS students, and brothers, Year 11 Diego and Year 8 Garcia, who are pictured above performing at the Young Artist's Showcase this weekend at the Contact Theatre, as part of their training under the Young Artist's programme with the prestigious RNCM; as previously reported, both Diego and Garcia did incredibly well in successfully securing a second year placement on the programme last summer.

Young Artist's Showcase: Saturday 11th May

The venue: Contact Theatre Manchester

It is great to hear about Diego and Garcia's time in the spotlight again at this fantastic event, that was supported by Sony Music UK’s Social Justice Fund.

Diego’s band Resolute performed two original songs: ‘Freedom ’, and ‘Running Back’, with Diego playing keys on both tracks.

Diego and Garcia both really enjoy playing keys in their bands, and they find studying at the RNCM every Saturday as rewarding as it is enjoyable; and they hope to continue their placement, studies, and involvement with RNCM for a long time to come.

Under the programme, Diego and Garcia have previously performed at Manchester's iconic venue Band on the Wall; and earlier this year, Diego was one of seventeen students who, in a fantastic opportunity, received an invitation to visit Sony Music HQ in London. Diego performed for executives and artists from Sony Music Network, and was highly commended not only by the music industry professionals, but also by RNCM principal Linda Merrick.

We are also delighted that they regularly contribute their talents to our very own Performing Arts events, including our recent production of Guys and Dolls, and the Festival of Christmas.

Really well done, you are an inspiration; with huge thanks to Diego, Garcia and family for sharing this fantastic news, and watch this space for future updates!
