u18 volleyball national college cup champions!
We end the week on a high with another fantastic sporting triumph!
As if it wasn't enough that UGS triumphed as U15 National Volleyball Champions last week, we only went and did it again last night, when our super star U18 Volleyball Team outclassed their competitors Richard Huish college from Taunton 3 sets to 0 to take the Championship.
They are pictured above and below enjoying their moment, and we could not be more proud. Huge congratulations to all, you are amazing, with huge thanks to Mr Hines and Mr Ainsworth for their ongoing support for our Volleyball teams and their path to victory.
Also this week in school
As you will see from our updates so far this week, there has been a great deal else going at UGS, in addition to the following:
Post 18 Options Information Evening
Yesterday evening, Careers Adviser Miss Marshall, visiting MMU representative Sally Merrell, and the Sixth Form Team delivered an invaluable session on Post 18 options for the parents and carers of our Year 12 students.
It was an informative evening on all the pathways and possibilities available to our students upon the completion of their A Level studies with us, and it comprised advice, guidance and further information on the support available to Year 12 for applications to all levels of Apprenticeships, including Degree Apprenticeships, and on employment and gap year options.
The Sixth Form Team then presented on University choices and the application process, and information was shared about the many, varied, and prestigious destinations and academic and professional pathways pursued by our A Level students in recent years, that are an inspiration to our current cohort.
Huge thanks to Sally Merrell from MMU, to Miss Marshall, to the Sixth Form team, and to the parents and carers who attended.
And finally ... over 20 of our students are setting off this afternoon for a weekend's residential with PGL Netball - enjoy all, and thanks to the accompanying staff.
