Students and staff share what they will be reading for World Book Night's The Reading Hour
Tonight is World Book Night, driven by the UK charity The Reading Agency, whose mission is to empower all in society to read and to reap its many benefits for academic, personal and social enrichment, and for positive mental well-being.
As a school we pride ourselves on our reading culture and whole school literacy programme, so we are keen to join in the World Book Night celebrations and to participate in The Reading Hour, which has been a key component of World Book Night since 2021, and promotes continuing or starting reading journeys by dedicating an hour to getting lost in a book between 7-8pm.
To that end, as a school community, we have been sharing with each other what we will be planning to read tonight, with some great choices from students and from staff, from a vast range of genres, and from publication dates spanning centuries.
In our lead picture are just some of our Year 7 students who are keen to take part tonight: Sophie, Grace, Austin, Oliver W, Oliver J, and Beatrice, and who are looking forward to reading titles including the best-selling The Hawthorne Legacy and Dread Wood.
