northern lights on ugs geography trip
Our geographers get the opportunity to witness Aurora Borealis on the first evening of their trip to Iceland
We're delighted to share news about the arrival of UGS Geographers in Iceland and a fantastic first day, and even more fantastic evening, where they got to experience the magnitude of none other than the breathtaking Northern Lights, as you can see in our lead picture.
The Geography students from years 11-13 set off from Manchester Airport this morning for the start of the trip:
After touching down:
They embarked on the first stage of their trip by coach, and are pictured below with Mr Neale (centre) enjoying journeying past the Reykjanes Geothermal power plant, looking forward to observing how the ocean shapes Iceland’s coastal landscapes.
To round off the first day, our students got to participate in a light walk in which they took in geysers & hot springs.
But, there could not have been a better way to end Day 1 than by getting to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights:
We look forward to lots more updates and photographs, with huge thanks to the staff accompanying the trip for sharing the rolling news, and we can't wait to hear and see how the rest of the visit progresses!
