Chemistry Flash Bang Show

In a fitting finale to a week of showcasing scientific knowledge and experimentation at UGS in celebration of British Science Week, we rounded off with not one but two great interactive workshops.

In the lead picture and below are Ms Ghaffur and Mr Dodd treating students to a showcase of 4 explosive experiments involving, amongst other things, balloons and a screaming jelly baby, all demonstrating explosive chain reactions.

It was as fun as it was educational, and a great way to learn more about the wonders of Chemistry.

Rocket Launch Workshop

For Year 7, Physics teacher Mr Leech headed up the above workshop. Firstly, students were tasked with designing and making their own rockets.

And in the pictures below they can be seen excitedly queueing to take their turn with their rockets at the launch, and then thoroughly enjoying their moment:

A really great end to a fantastic and well-attended Science Week at UGS, with huge thanks to all the staff in the Science department, and to our students for their epic level of participation.
