environmental consultancy careers talk today
Visiting consultant inspires our students at lunchtime today
Our Careers department, as part of their ongoing provision for UGS students, were delighted this lunchtime to host visiting Climate and Sustainability Consultant Heloise Goddard from RSK Group.
Students from years 9-13 who are interested in the environment, sustainability and climate change action, and/or who are contemplating careers in these sectors or in fields related to Science, Geography, Maths and English, were invited to participate in the lunchtime session in the Conference Room.
This programme of sessions from visiting speakers is a great opportunity for our students to hear first hand from professionals about roles in the sector, but also about pathways into it; and today Heloise shared her own personal journey from leaving school, to University, and progression through early career stages from product specialist to consultant; and all that Nature Positive services comprises, including an overview of the various specialities of the team members from Carbon to Building sustainability, construction, transport and lighting; and their diverse degree backgrounds.
Students also learnt about the specifics of the industry, a typical working week, and the key skills required; and the ways in which they can gain the requisite skills to bolster their aspirations prior to applying for positions in this sector, for example through volunteering, placement years, and tailoring research projects to environmental topics.
Finally, students were able to engage in a Q&A, an opportunity to field their specific enquiries.
With huge thanks to Heloise for giving her time today for the benefit of our students, and to our Careers department for organising this great opportunity.
We look forward to the next event!
