year 7 geographers present & impress!
Outstanding presentations on `Place` from our Year 7 Geography students
The Geography department is proud to share news about Year 7 Geographers who have really impressed them all with their enthusiastic commitment to learning and high standard of presentations on the topic of `Place`.
All Year 7 Geography students were involved, and subject teacher and Assistant Head of Sixth Form Mr Neale shares that: "The students loved this project: we chose places based on the National Curriculum, and we find that it is a great way for them to build relationships with each other, as well as giving them a fabulous and inspiring introduction to the study of Geography".
In groups of 3 or 4, the students were commissioned to research a country and its characteristics, including its:
- Physical geography
- Human geography
- Development levels
- Politics
- Climate features
As well as conducting independent collaborative research (and during many a lunchtime, break, and after school, the students were seen to be actively engaged in this in our LRC), many chose to also bring in examples of the national or regional cuisine:
In addition to playing music and sharing interesting facts that they had discovered about the country's culture, society and sport:
The effort put into the project from all of the students was reflected in the standard of the presentations, and their joy at taking part was clear to see.
Mr Neale adds that he's been bowled over by how industrious Year 7 have been, not least because many students went above and beyond, by, for example, creating a paper kahoot/quiz:
Really well done, we are super proud of you all, and keep up this amazing work!
Huge thanks to the department for sharing this fantastic news!
