year 9 Isaac selected for GB climbing team!

We're delighted to share an exciting update about talented climber Isaac 9R, who, in a fantastic achievement, has been selected for the 2024 GB Climbing Team.

He will compete this summer in Zelena in Slovakia and in Dornbirn in Austria, with the potential to be selected to represent GB in more international competitions.

He is pictured above and below proudly sporting the Team GB kit, and will soon be ramping up the training in readiness. 

Here Isaac tells us more about his journey to selection:

I really enjoy climbing because it presents me with a different challenge every time, and it builds up my strength and endurance, which boosts my confidence.

To train, I climb 5 times a week, twice in Leeds and once in Sheffield. I travel to do this as my team is one of the best in the U.K. and they coach the majority of the seniors on the GB Team. 

My training also involves running, stretching and workouts.

In the past year, I have won 2 National competitions, one that took place in Wales and one in Scotland, but the biggest competition of the year so far for me was the British Lead Climbing competition (BLCC), in which I finished second.

I'm really looking forward to competing in July, and if I place the best in my team in these competitions, then I will also be invited to the Youth Worlds in China.
